High Heat, Strong Storms Expected Thursday

The heat index Thursday could be above 100 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Thursday with the high forecasted at 95 degrees. Yet, it could feel like 105 degrees due to humidity.

With humidity at 60 percent Wednesday and overnight thunderstorms, the humidity Thursday may be even higher.

The advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents are asked to stay hydrated and in a cool place. The humidity with hot temperatures can lead to heat illnesses, including heat exhaustion.

The authorities ask that residents check up on the elderly, travel to local cooling centers or air-conditioned public libraries and to not leave pets or children in a car.
