Green Line to Partly Close for Memorial Day Weekend

Service will be suspended at four stations starting Friday night.

Metro service will be suspended along the northeast end of the Green Line this weekend as crews work to install new switches, according to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

From Friday, May 25 at 10 p.m. through the evening of Monday, May 28, no trains will run between Fort Totten and Greenbelt in either direction. Four stations—West Hyattsville, Prince George's Plaza, College Park, and Greenbelt—will be closed during this time.

Although buses will replace trains between Greenbelt and Fort Totten, Metro recommends that customers who normally drive and park at Greenbelt consider using New Carrollton Station on the Orange Line instead.

Shuttle bus service will operate on two routes:

  • Local service between all four stations. Metro recommends that customers using local shuttle bus service add up to 50 minutes to their travel time.
  • Express service between Greenbelt and Fort Totten stations only. Metro recommends that customers using express shuttle bus service add about 30 minutes to their travel time.

In addition, Yellow Line trains will only operate between Mt. Vernon Square and Huntington due to track work.
