Wintry Mix Forecast; Flood Watch in Effect

One to two inches of rainfall are expected across the region, followed by a mix of sleet and snow tonight.

Update, 2:08 p.m.:

Be on the lookout for the first snow of December tonight as we’re likely to see a mix of rain and snow turning into all snow after 1 a.m.

You should be OK heading into work because it’s all supposed to be over during the dark hours, but the National Weather Service is predicting snow accumulation of less than one inch.

As of now, we’re not likely to see any more snow this week, but it’s a good time to be prepared with a good mini snow shovel, blankets and a bag of salt or sand in the trunk of your car.

With a sprawling storm system moving up the eastern seaboard, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Wednesday across Prince George's County and much of the Baltimore-Washington corridor.

The alert is in effect from 1 p.m. through late tonight.

The service calls for periods of moderate to heavy rain through this evening, with a total rainfall of one to two inches expected.

"[The storm] will be sufficient to cause creeks and streams to flood," the service warns. "Street flooding also will be possible in urban areas."

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
