Signing On for STEP-UP

If you’re driving through town sometime next week and you may spot small green signs that have suddenly popped up on people’s lawns.

What are these little signs?

They are the emblem of a resident who has gotten either an audit or retrofit with STEP-UP.

STEP-UP will be going out and putting signs on the lawns of those local people who have taken the initiative, signed up and followed through. Certain signs are for people who have had their houses audited, and others are for those who have gotten a full retrofit. Feeling like keeping up with the Joneses? Then send in your application today, get a sign, and be proud of your energy savings!

For those of you who may have forgotten, STEP-UP stands for Small Town Energy Program of University Park, and our mission is to increase the energy efficiency, safety, and comfort of our residents’ houses, all while cutting down the cost of energy bills.

When you sign up with STEP-UP, you arrange for an energy auditor to come and assess the energy needs of your house. After that, you can talk to the energy coach to determine what kind of rebates you may qualify for and where you can save money. Finally, once your house is retrofitted, you can sit back and enjoy the comfort of your newly-insulated home with the knowledge that you helped the environment.
