Feedback Loop - Recommendations on Contractors

If you have been thinking about signing up for STEP-UP in the previous weeks, you may have had some concerns about what contractor to pick. How do you know which energy contractors are worth their salt? The answer can be found through the most trusted channel in University Park: your neighbors!

Let those who have already had experience with contractors make their recommendations to help guide you through the process. Go to the Maryland Home Performance with Energy Star website to take a look at what’s being said. Just click on “Find a Contractor,” select your county, then click on any of the listed contractors to see a brief summary of information as well as customer reviews. MHP also provides guidance on the right financial steps to take as well as information on home energy improvements and available rebates.

For those of you who have already completed your audits, retrofits, or who are currently waiting to receive your rebates, Maryland Home Performance is encouraging you to share your advice. If your contractor was wonderful and you would like to let others know, don’t hesitate – go to the MHP webpage and click on the button that says "Homeowner Feedback."

And don’t forget to spread the word the old fashioned way – tell people! There are plenty of residents seeking information and recommendations on energy contractors, so feel free to get the word out about whom you think is the gold standard in energy. STEP-UP depends upon resident participation, so spread the word!
