Leigh Bodden Opens New Fitness Center in Lanham; Provides Local Community with a High-Value Gym Option at a Skinny Price
LANHAM, Md. – Retro Fitness, one of the nation’s leading low-cost, high-value fitness concepts, is opening the doors to its first location in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area next week at 8827 Annapolis Rd. in Lanham, Md. The new gym is owned and operated by former NFL cornerback, Leigh Bodden, who plans on bringing a total of three Retro Fitness locations to the area in the next 24 months.
The 17,500 square-foot facility blends vibrant color schemes into a fun, energetic atmosphere where gym members can comfortably meet their fitness goals. With an affordable monthly membership of just $19.99, gym members have access to a full collection of top-of-the line strength equipment and cardio machines from industry leaders, complete with individual flat-screen television monitors, among several other amenities.
Prior to joining Retro Fitness, Bodden spent nine years playing as a cornerback in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and most recently the New England Patriots. Bodden is no stranger to the fitness industry and Retro Fitness has big expansion plans for his home market of Prince George’s County, making the pair a perfect fit.
“Bodden’s Retro Fitness locations will be operated under The WEOU Group, a hospitality company founded by the athlete to house a variety of investments in the fitness, hotel and restaurant industries. The WEOU Group was established on the value of customer service and formed to allow Bodden and his team to give back to the community with excellent service and valuable experiences. With a focus on healthy living and wellness, Bodden wants to help as many members of the local community that he can through the businesses he will open, starting with Retro Fitness in Lanham.
“There are no major gym chains in Lanham so we opened Retro Fitness to provide the community with a facility that will help them achieve their health and fitness goals at a fraction of the cost, but without skimping out on the necessities needed for a good workout,” Bodden said, commenting on his decision to become a Retro Fitness franchisee. He added, “Retro Fitness offers a clean and welcoming environment for every member to achieve success without feeling intimidated or overwhelmed—no matter their fitness level. We look forward to helping the local community stay on top of their goals!”
Retro Fitness Lanham offers a variety of live classes, including spin, Zumba, Les Mills group fitness classes and circuit training, among other options. Members can also work up a sweat in the popular cardio movie theater that houses a variety of cardio equipment instead of seats and plays movies on a large screen throughout the day. Additional member amenities include one-on-one personal training, virtual fitness classes, full-service locker rooms, 20 yards of turf field a supervised children’s playroom, the latest in tanning technology, a full-service pro-shop and a Retro Blends smoothie bar, all within a high-energy, social atmosphere.
Retro Fitness Lanham also offers members a free mobile app, intended to be a true workout companion, to keep them motivated and on track to reach their goals. The constantly evolving app features everything from tracking workouts and demonstrating proper fitness techniques to inspirational push notifications, new monthly educational content and more.
“Retro Fitness is not just about giving members a workout facility to help them achieve their fitness goals, it’s about providing an experience that keeps them wanting to come back to achieve those goals and push themselves even further,” Bodden added. “Members can change their lives for less than 75 cents a day—you can’t beat that price with our amenities.”
Retro Fitness Lanham will be open Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
