Bites Nearby: Bar Pilar

New American cuisine with influence from local farm ingredients off the the U Street Corridor.

Only a short drive from Riverdale and University Park, Bar Pilar is the perfect place to grab a great meal with friends or a date.

It's cozy with dinettes and high bar seating with a casual, seat yourself atmosphere.

I headed over there for brunch Sunday after hearing some great reviews about their food. I wasn't disappointed.

The brunch was very Spanish-influenced, although there are some traditional American plates on the menu.

I ordered the Jamon Serrano Eggs Benedict with home fries for $11, and it was a plate of perfectly-cooked poached eggs, with fresh, creamy hollandaise sauce over sliced of Spanish ham and an English muffin. The best part of meal however, was the bacon bloody Mary with Spanish olives.
