BLOG: Support Off. Alford, Sign the Petition

Support the officer who acted as a whistle-blower on fraudulent activities.

In yet another example of the fraudulent activity surrounding the Maryland’s speed camera taxation program, Riverdale Park has suspended an officer, who has refused to perjure himself, for telling the truth.

That truth, inconvenient as it may be for the town of Riverdale Park, was that they were violating state law, Maryland Code Section 21-809, which explains a citation must include "a signed statement by a duly authorized law enforcement officer employed by or under contract with an agency that, based on inspection of recorded images, the motor vehicle was being operated in violation of this subtitle."

Section 3-101 of the code defines the law enforcement officer as someone authorized to make arrests who works for the police department.

Riverdale Park officials/employees knowingly violated the law by having non-law enforcement officers approving tickets, while imprinting a police officer’s signature (meaning not their signature but a forgery of another person’s signature) onto the ticket, after approving it. Also in on the law breaking occurrence was the manufacturer of the speed camera taxation device, Optotraffic.

To support Corporal Alford and his attempt to uphold the law, instead of breaking it, you can sign the petition below:

If you've been given a speed camera ticket in Riverdale Park, and don't feel it was accurate, you may want to join the class action law suit against the town of Riverdale Park, as your citation may have not been reviewed by a trained law enforcement officer and therefore fraudulent and invalid.
