16th Annual Fall Craft Fair Saturday

Proceeds benefit a community fund that Riverdale Presbyterian Church uses to help the needy.

Handmade crafts, ornament and holiday items will all be available for sale Saturday at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church in University Park when the church's hosts its annual Fall Craft Fair.

Joy Kline, president of the board of deacons, said the fair is in its 16th year. Initially the fair was organized to help raise money for the church and for it's deacon scholarship fund, but after enough money was raised for the scholarship, the proceeds were set towards a community fund.

Kline said the money helps families in the community that need assistance, and some money goes directly to the church.

"We'd like to raise more money," she said, "and get more people out here."

Kline said the fair will feature its "white elephant room," or a room with a variety of household items and old books.

"We collect things that people don't want during the year, and then sell it along with used books," Kline said.

She said people can also browse crafters' tables, who will be selling pillows, jewelry, hair accessories, vases, ornaments, calendars, nature photos, watercolor paintings, woodwork, pottery, African clothes and beads and knitted sweaters.

Refreshments will be available for those who want to spend the day browsing.

The fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can enter through the door adjacent to the parking lot.
