Two New Editors Take the Reins of Riverdale Park-University Park Patch

Patch editors Jenni Pompi and Michael Theis take over duties at your local Patch.

Riverdale Park and University Park, you are in luck.

You’ve got not one, but two new local editors taking over your Patch. We’d say we are glad to be here, but we’ve both already been here for quite a while.

Jenni Pompi (that’s me), who’s is also the editor of Bowie Patch, has been living in Riverdale Park with her family more than seven years. Mine is the face you’ll see at the top of this page.

You might recognize me from the Riverdale Park Farmers Market. Maybe you’ve seen me at drop off or pick up at Riverdale Elementary where my son Oscar is in kindergarten. Or quite possibly from a Riverdale Park or University Park town council meeting, since I worked as a freelancer and guest editor for your Patch for about a year before becoming an official employee. Maybe our preschoolers attend University Church Nursery School together in College Park, where my younger son Miles is in the threes class.

So, as you can see, Riverdale Park is my home. I’m dug in here like an Alabama tick, as my husband would say, and I’m thrilled to get to cover community news for my very own community.

My co-editor Michael Theis is also likely a familiar face. He loves the Riverdale Park Farmers Market too, but he’s also the editor of neighboring Hyattsville Patch. This little corner of Prince George’s County has been home to Mike, who’s a graduate of DeMatha High School, for most of his life.

Mike remembers the days when people got their small appliances fixed at Franklins and when the parking deck when up at Prince George’s Plaza metro station. This area is home to him and he has a wealth of knowledge about our area.

Once a cameraman, Mike takes great photos and provides great municipal, police and development coverage in Hyattsville and he’ll bring all those skills with him to Riverdale Park-University Park Patch.

I know we’re both looking forward to getting to know all of you local readers. We hope you’ll help us keep our calendar full by adding your local events, and I also encourage you to post announcements on Riverdale Park-University Park Patch as well to share your good news with your neighbors or to raise their awareness about local causes and charities.

And with that, we are off and running. Feel free to contact us with any news tips or just to say "Hi".
