Who's Riverdale Park's Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Obama their person of the year for the second time. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Obama their Person of the Year, again!

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including the president, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. But, the president took the title again four years after he first won the award as president-elect in 2008.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Riverdale Park’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

I nominate Jim Coleman. He organizes our Farmer's Market, and the Holiday Market/Festival of Lights. Not only does he work tirelessly to bring our community together, but he's a wonderful man, with a wonderful family. Jim is truly an inspiration!

I nominate Emily Fanning. She is President of the Arts Council and organizes the Arts Fesitival every year in town center. She started a program for the children to make historical dolls and doll houses. She worked on costumes for the children for the 1812 activities and I am sure she paid for the supplies out of her own pocket. The girls wore the dresses to the arts festival this past year and looked fabulous.
She is an outstanding volunteer and has given her time, expertise and money to the community. I would also nominate Emily's husband, Del Fanning for all the time he spends picking up trash as he walks his dog on a daily basis. What an outstanding family. They serve the community out of the goodness of their hearts. Emily and Del are treasured residents of Riverdale Park.

Great suggestions! I had a Twitter follower nominate Council Member Jonathan Ebbeler for his leadership on the Cafrtiz proposal.

Any other suggestions? Riverdale Park is filled with amazing folks!
