A great idea for a recipe from the farmers market came from Hyattsville resident and mother-of-five Heidi Schmidt — homemade pizzas.

Schmidt, who often comes to the market not only to pick up fruits and vegetables, but to check out the work of local artists, said Thursday night her kids would dine on individualized pizzas.

"Everyone will put on their own toppings," she said. "Or they'll make one big pizza and put their preferred toppings on a certain side."

She bought her fresh pizza dough from The Three Brothers on Kenilworth Avenue and said after dinner the family would nosh on fresh fruit, like peaches.

She loves coming to Riverdale to support the market, the vegetable and fruit farmers, native plant vendors, artists and the folks from ECO City Farms.
