What Would You Improve in Riverdale Park in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Riverdale Park, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Riverdale Park to make it an even better place to live?

Would you like to see a revitalized Town Center? A new business at the former Jey's Auto location? More voter participation in local elections?

What is on your Riverdale Park wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

I'd like to see the politicians more visible in their individual wards; as it is, the only time they're out and about meeting their constituents is at election time.

We need a dog park desperately in Riverdale. I know it's currently being worked on by the council and mayor but it cannot come fast enough. Our family dogs need a lot more socialization and the dog park will work wonders for us.

RE dog parks; I don't own a dog at this time, but am curious, how do those parks work? Can just anyone bring their dog in, do people have to have a "membership," or something similiar? When I DID own dogs, even though they were never allowed to run loose, they ALWAYS had their shots, were checked for fleas, etc., and my concern at a dog park would be that my pet would be exposed to animals that did NOT have shots, possibly had parasites, etc.

We were members of the College Park Dog Park for a while, and we paid annual membership dues (to pay for things like insurance and pet poo pickup bags) and everyone was required to show proof that their dogs had a rabies vaccination and were licensed with the county. There was a combination lock and only current members were given the code. However, I know that different dog parks have different rules

I go to the Hyattesville Dog Park, which is free. The benefit from socializing your dog far outweighs any potential risk. Even dogs that behave badly on the leash will act appropriately when hanging out in an off-leash dog park. The "power of the pack" will teach them better manners. Riverdale Park needs a dog park for sure. Most of our dogs do not get enough exercise and socialization. And we have such a big, beautiful park that a dog park will fit in nicely.
