UPDATE: All Lanes of Keniworth Avenue Now Open

The 5500 block of Kenilworth Avenue was closed this morning due to a water main break.

 

UPDATE, 1:35 p.m.: All lanes are now open, according to the Prince George's County Police Department. 

UPDATE, 12:50 p.m.: The 5500 block of Kenilworth Avenue between Riverdale Road and Jefferson street is closed in both directions, according to county officials. Utility crews are on the scene and anticipate working on the repair throughout the day. Drivers should find an alternate route. 

Original Story: The southbound 5500 block of Kenilworth Avenue between Riverdale Road and Jefferson Street was closed Thursday morning because of a water main break, according to Riverdale Park town officials.

And alert sent out by the Riverdale Park Police Department advised that the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) was on the scene of the break working to fix the problem. The road will be closed for an unknown period.  

Police are adivising residents to avoid the area until repairs are complete.
