The Riverdale Park Farmers Market closed its season Thursday and it was sort of bittersweet. Going to the market each week is not just an opportunity to get fresh fruits and vegetables, grass-fed meats and other speciality foods, it's an place to gather with neighbors and catch up.

Vendors have become a part of Riverdale Park's culture, knowing regular customers so well, they can predict what they want to take home.

I feel like I've gotten to know the community better at the market as well -- and have seen some vegetables I have never heard of before.

So with that and with Thanksgiving coming along, I wanted to share some of my favorite holiday recipes that take the best of this season's flavors:
