Riverdale Park Winter Market: Ugly Bacon, Free Range Eggs, Apple Cider

Apples, hot Indian food and other pasture meats will also be available for purchase at Thursday's market.

It’s back, the Ugly Bacon is back at this week’s winter market, which will be held inside the Town Center Market from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

For those not in the know, Ugly Bacon, as described on the Riverdale Park Farmers Market Facebook Page, is “bits and pieces at the end of a bacon run, not pretty bacon that looks factory made.”

In addition to the Ugly Bacon, made from pastured Berkshire pork, Groff’s Content Farm will also have other pastured meats along with free range chickens and eggs.

Several varieties of local apples and apple products, including cider, will also be offered at Thursday’s market.

The Verandah's will also be at the market selling hot Indian food. Thursday's menu includes chicken curry with basmati rice, chicken and veggie samosas, spiced chicken salad with cranberries, and more.

Winter market regulars ECO City Farms will have baby spinach, lettuce, and pea shoots up for sale. Stone Hearth Bakery will also be on hand with their variety of freshly baked breads and sweets.

Ugly bacon starts in the factory farm, and gets uglier from there. Don't eat the end result if you truly love animals, or your health.
