Riverdale Towers Building Condemned, Displacing 200 Residents
Officials determined that the complex would need to be evacuated after responding to a report of a leak.
County officials say they've condemned a 65-unit apartment building in Riverdale Park due to damage from last month's violent storms, leaving hundreds displaced from their homes.
Firefighters and emergency personnel were called to Riverdale Towers Apartments on Wednesday evening after receiving a 911 call about a water leak, according to the Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management. The Department of Environment Resources later determined that the building would need to be condemned.
About 200 residents of the complex were vacated, officials said, many of whom are staying in a temporary shelter at Bladensburg High School. The American Red Cross and the Department of Social Services are assisting affected families.
Anyone impacted by the evacuation needing help, information, or shelter is encouraged to call the Prince George’s County Emergency Operation Center at 301-583-1950.

What awful news. Will residents be allowed back in to remove their possessions?
