Riverdale Business Association Celebrates Holiday, Donate Money to Charity
The RPBA and various members donated money to purchase items for veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
For its monthly meeting, the Riverdale Park Business Association celebrated the holiday in town hall Wednesday evening.
Although there wasn't much business discussed, the group did vote to donate $200 to help Secretary Carol Patsel buy goods requested by wounded veterans at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Patsel and her employer The Dental Group raise donations every year. Not only did the RPBA donate - but several members donated extra money as well.
President Audrey Bragg said the veterans had requested items like stamps and paper so they could write to family and friends. Patsel added that they also need pajamas, scarves, hats and gloves.
Anyone with donations can drop items off at The Dental Group before Friday at 1 p.m.
Market Coordinator Jim Coleman is still looking for volunteers to help as tour guides during the trolley rides on Saturday.
The RPBA will be hosting Santa at the Holiday Market from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the train station.
