UPDATED: Police Arrest Two After Shots Fired Near University of Maryland
Police say shots rang out after a fight outside the McDonald's on Baltimore Avenue.

Two men are under arrest after Prince George’s County police say shots were fired as police tried to break up a fight early Saturday morning in a McDonald’s parking lot near the University of Maryland, College Park.
Melvyn Douglass Watson, Jr., 18, of the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road, in Greenbelt, and Dikimbe Rasheed David-Brandon, 20, of the 5500 block of Volta Avenue, in Bladensburg will be charged with possession of a handgun and reckless endangerment, county police said in a news release.
Police responded to a report of a fight in the 8200 block of Baltimore Avenue about 12:50 a.m., according to the release. Officers found about 200 people in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 8301 Baltimore Ave., the release said.
A county officer dispersing the fight heard several gun shots and saw a man shooting toward the crowd in the parking lot, the release said. He gave chase toward Pontiac Street. Meanwhile, another officer saw more shots being fired from a small SUV in the McDonald’s parking lot, the release said.
At about 12:55 a.m., a University of Maryland police officer saw a small SUV stopped in the 8200 block of Baltimore Avenue, according to the release. As the officer approached the vehicle the front passenger fled, the release said. The passenger was caught a short distance away, the release said.
Officers found a second occupant in the vehicle, where they also recovered a handgun, the release said. The second occupant was arrested.
Another shooting and police chase ended near the same McDonald’s last month.

Two men were arrested and Prince George’s County police are searching for a third man after a report of shots fired near the University of Maryland, College Park campus early Saturday morning.
An officer saw a vehicle occupied by an individual fitting a suspect description, according to the release. As officers approached the vehicle, it drove off and a short pursuit ensued, the release said.
The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Campus Drive and a passenger attempted to run before being caught by police, the release said. The driver of the vehicle also was arrested.
“A handgun was recovered near where the first subject was arrested,” the release said.
County police have not yet released the identities of the suspects arrested or details of any charges, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a county police spokesman.
Police are searching for a third person who is believed to have fled north on Route 1 from where the vehicle was initially spotted.
The incident occurred not far from the scene of a shooting and police chase last month.
