Update: Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train Is Identified
The Brentwood man was killed accidentally when he was crossing the tracks.

Update: The family of the pedestrian struck by a train in the early morning hours of March 31 have identified him as Bradford Bacon, 41, of Brentwood and formerly of University Park.
He was crossing the tracks to visit his girlfriend, Deborah Byrd, in Riverdale Park, when he was struck.
His sister, Jessica Bacon, said he did have trouble with his hearing, but police haven't told them the details of the accident.
His memorial is set for Wednesday evening at Paint Branch Unitarian Church from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A story about his life will be posted shortly.
Original Post, March 31: An adult male was pronounced dead early Thursday morning after he was found lying next to the railroad tracks near Rhode Island Avenue and Queensbury Road in Riverdale Park.
Firefighters and police arrived on the scene just after midnight, and after an extensive search of the area, they located the body of an adult male in his 40s in the 5900 block of Lafayette Avenue.
Both sides of the CSX train tracks were shut down temporarily during the initial investigation, Prince George's County Police reported.
The name of the victim is unknown, and the incident is under investigation.

I was shocked to hear that the recent fatality on the railroad tracks was at Blundon's Crossing.
I read last years Patch article and didn't realize how significant that area was until I read about the latest fatality. CSX should post "No Trespassing" signs in that area instead of gravel and railroad ties inviting pedestrians to risk their lives trying to cross the tracks.

We have learned from Town Talk the pedestrian struck by the train was a young man named Brad who lived in University Park. He was walking to his girlfriends house in Riverdale Park.

I need to confirm it with his family or Prince George's County Police in order to publish it. PGPD told me they are still waiting to notify next of kin. If anyone knows how I can get a hold of his family - I'd appreciate it, so we can honor him in a story about his life.

His memorial service is this evening at Paint Branch Unitarian Church from 5 - 9PM.
