Over 230 Registered as 'Parties of Record' for Cafritz Hearing
The designation allows individuals and institutions to speak on the proposed rezoning of the Cafritz property.
Some 236 individuals and institutions have registered as parties of record for the Prince George's County Planning Board's hearing on the proposed rezoning of the Cafritz property, according to the latest rundown.
The "party of record" designation allows residents and representatives to speak at the Jan. 12 session, where the board will consider written and in-person feedback on the plan.
Under the Cafritz proposal, the developer's 38.5-acre parcel on the north end of Riverdale Park would be redesignated from residential (R-55) to Mixed-Use Town Center (MUTC), easing the way for the construction of more than 900 units of housing, a 35,000-sqft. Whole Foods, a 120-room hotel, and additional office and retail space.
The list of potential speakers includes dozens of residents from University Park, Riverdale Park, and greater Riverdale plus others from College Park, Hyattsville, and nearby towns.
Next month's hearing was initially scheduled for Dec. 15 but was delayed after the Cafritz team acceded to local officials' calls for a continuance.
