Edgar Bosworth Hosey was born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1909. After growing up in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania where he graduated in 1928 from Union High School, he underwent  aeronautical training at Curtis-Wright Flying School in Chicago. He enlisted in the US Navy and served as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Arkansas during the early 1930’s. During WWll he worked as a civilian at Norfolk Naval Air Station, installing bomb racks on airplanes.

After his Navy experience, Ed settled in Washington, D.C. where he met and married Ellen Mary Gozzard, his wife of 62 years. He was employed by General Electric for two decades; and retired from Hudson Supply Company in 1975. Ed and Ellen lived in University Park, Maryland for nearly 50 years where they were active members of Riverdale Presbyterian Church.

He spent the last ten years of his long life at Homestead Manor on the Wesleyan Campus in Denton, Maryland, where he celebrated many birthdays and made many friends with residents and caregivers. “Fairway Eddie” played golf until after turning 101. At age 103, he was still dancing.
