Update: Hyattsville Middle School Takes Home Top Music Awards in Two Competitions
The school's creative and performing arts department swept this year's Fiestaval and earned superior ratings at the state level.
Update, May 9: The Hyattsville Middle School CPA choir, having earned straight superior ratings of 1's at the County Festival a few months ago (including a 39/40 on sight-reading), was adjudicated at the state festival on May 6.
At the state festival, performing and sight-reading at a level-three (the middle school maximum is level-four), they were one of only about four middle school choirs to earn straight superior ratings of ones at the state level.
At the state festival, the choir also earned a perfect 40/40 on the sight-reading.
Keep watch for information about the Superiors Concert at Bowie High School on May 13th.

Hi Jennifer/Michael,
It is called Fiestival...and this competition was held in Atlanta last week. If you check the Festival website (see a link to it in our story above) you can find out more about it!
Thanks for writing!

Too bad parents have to fight the County every year to keep the funding for this outstanding program!
