The 100-year-old market will move onto Queensbury Road.

owners hope the store will be dawning a new name and location by the end of the year.

The 100-year-old market's owners will move the beer, wine and convenience store from the corner of Riverdale Road and Lafayatte Avenue to Queensbury Road, where it'll occupy a majority of the old credit union building.

The new store will be more than 6,000-square-feet, in comparison to the current 1,775-square-foot store.

"We will continue with what we have here, but enhance it," Ted Spiropolous, said. "We'll have more snack items, a nice coffee station, soft ice cream, more groceries, and a larger selection of craft beers and wines."

The Spiropolous' have owned the credit union building for a time and have looked to lease it out, but the only contract they had to lease feel through. Now, they hope to make that space more profitable for themselves and for the community.

"By moving the store we hope to bring some vibrancy and more life around here," Spiropolous said. "It'll be closer to town center and we're planning to have a brick-paved outdoor patio area the community could use."

Although details will be worked out with time, he said, they hope to appeal to more people from within the community and also try out new products like artisan breads and cheeses. He said they also hope to host wine and beer tastings.

With free wireless Internet, indoor and outdoor seating, they hope to help bring more people within town center.

They have sent plans and various applications for permits to the county and will need to get approval from the county and town before they can start construction in late August, early September.

As for the current store, they hope to either lease it out, or use it as additional seating for customers who frequent , which will also remain at its current Riverdale Road address.

Pete Spiropolous said the store has been theirs for 23 years and he looks for the store being a bit more convenient for employees and customers, as everything will be on one-floor.

The new property will also have two additional MUTC-zoned areas available to lease.

Ted Spiropolous said he hopes the new store can open by the end of the year, but said residents might be surprised by a name change, keeping the new name as an element of surprise.

"We're looking forward to opening the store, creating some excitement in the town center," he added. "We hope it will provide a catalyst for potential (businesses) to come into town."
