Bites Nearby: Bobby's Burger Palace
Another burger joint opens, with unique flavor combinations to offer patrons in College Park.
It's owned by Bobby Flay. So you would expect no less than the best burger you've ever tasted, since he is, after all, the grill master.
Bobby's Burger Palace opened last week in College Park to rave reviews from University of Maryland students who lined the doors to try the newest restaurant in the city.
I finally tried it Friday, and the line was still long, but once I ordered, the food came out within five minutes.
My Napa Valley Burger arrived — covered in goat cheese with watercress and a Meyer lemon honey mustard. It was absolutely amazing and I pretty much devoured it. It was incredibly rich, but the acidity in the honey mustard did cut through some of the richness of the goat cheese.
When I go next time I might try the Miami burger — with ham, swiss and pickles or the Dallas burger — spice-crusted, with BBQ sauce, coleslaw and Monterey Jack.
I didn't crunchify my burger, Flay's signature touch, which means potato chips are added to the burger for that extra crunch.
His fries were classic, nothing to call home about, but served with a fry sauce that's mayo-based.
The other items yet to be available at are their spiked milkshakes — vanilla caramel bourbon, pineapple coconut rum and mocha kahlúa vodka. Can't wait to try those!
